The Clearview Community

The Clearview Community in the Town of Oakville is bounded by the Queen Elizabeth Way on the north, the East Industrial District on the south, by the Parkway Belt (Oakville - Mississauga Mini-Belt) on the west, and Winston Churchill Boulevard on the east.

 

The Clearview Community is one of the smallest residential communities in Oakville.  The residential population is sufficient to support a reasonably full range of support facilities consisting of a local school, parks, and commercial facilities.

 

The Clearview Community contains one separate elementary school and Oakville's Official Plan designates one public elementary school site adjacent to the Neighbourhood Commercial Centre.  The timing of construction of this additional school is determined by the Halton School Board based on projected enrollment numbers.

 

The major feature of this community is a central parkway system which not only contains parks, bicycle paths, and walkways, but also serves to locate the major community activities such as schools and neighbourhood shopping facilities.

 

The Clearview Community has met and exceeded the Official Plan projected ultimate population of 6,000 persons, with a 2001 population of 6,856 persons.

 

According to the 2001 census there was a high concentration of younger couples, and younger persons in the 0-19 age group and a low proportion in the over 65 age group.

 

In the total population of the Clearview Community, 33.7% are in the 0-19 age group compared to the overall Oakville total of 28.4%, and only 4% of the population falls within the over 65 age group compared to the overall Oakville total of 10.9%

 

The Clearview Community consists predominately of single detached housing units.  The Town of Oakville Official Plan designates that the Clearview Community shall consist of low and medium density residential areas.

 

Commercial Amenities

Commercial uses in the Clearview Community are within a Neighbourhood Commercial Centre locaed at the southeast corner of Kingsway Drive and Wynten Way.

 

The residents of Clearview also have access to a designated Neighbourhood Commercial Centre located at the southwest corner of Sheridan Garden Drive and Winston Churchill Boulevard in the Queen Elizabeth Way East Industrial District.  This Neighbourhood Commercial Centre is intended to serve the Clearview Community and the Q.E.W. East Industrial District.

 

Other Amenities

The Clearview Community has several amenities located within its boundaries.  The Iroquois Ridge is a natural land feature that crosses the community in an east/west direction.  The ridge is protected as public parkland, and is identified as Avonhead Ridge Trail.  The Parks and Recreation Department have developed a trail system along the ridge that connects with several streets within this community.
