The College Park Community of the Town of Oakville is bordered by the Sixteen Mile Creek to the west, Upper Middle Road to the north, the east branch of the Morrison Creek to the east and the Queen Elizabeth Way to the south.
College Park is home to Sheridan College Campus which occupies 41 hectares and is located on the west side of Trafalgar Road south of Upper Middle Road.
The Town of Oakville Municipal Office and Provincial Court are also located within the College Park Community at the intersection of White Oaks Boulevard and Trafalgar Road.
Most of the older residential districts within the community are detached homes located on moderately large lots.
Most of the subsequent development has been aimed at a residential mix to increase the variety of accommodation. Higher density housing, such as high-rise apartments, condominiums and townhouses are mostly concentrated along the Trafalgar Road corridor.
The Community also contains four public elementary schools, two separate elementary schools and two public secondary schools.
The last census for which statistics are available was undertaken in 2001, and at that time the population of the College Park Community was 13,314 persons.
The community has met and exceeded the ultimate population of 13,000 persons as designated in the Town of Oakville Official Plan.
From the date collected in 2001, the census indicates that 64.1% of the population was made up of people in the 20-64 age group as compared to the overall Oakville total of 60.7%
The percentages for other age groups are: 22.8% of the population are in the 0-19 age group compared to the overall Oakville total of 28.4% and 13% of the population in the 65+ age group compared to the overall Oakville total of 10.9%.
Generally, the older residential districts within the College Park Community are single detached homes with moderately large lots.
The College Park Community has a variety of amenities located within its boundaries. Some of the more notable amenities are as follows:
Sixteen Mile Creek: The Sixteen Mile Creek forms the westerly boundary of the community from the Queen Elizabeth Way northwards. The Sixteen Mile Creek area contains public parkland, connecting walkway/trail system and is designated an environmental protection area.
Morrison Creek: Morrison Creek forms the easterly boundary of the community from White Oaks Boulevard, northwards to Upper Middle Road. The Morrison Creek area contains public parkland, connecting walkway/trail system, recreational facilities and is designated as a natural environment area.
Golf Course: The Oakville Golf Club, a well established 18 hole golf course, is located west of Sixth Line and abuts the Sixteen Mile Creek.
Parkland and Facilities The community contains five Parkettes (generally less than 1 hectare in size), seven Neighbourhood Parks (generally a minimum of 2 hectares in size), one Community Park (generally a minimum of 6 hectares) and three Natural Environmental Parks. An indoor swimming pool as well as a branch library are located within White Oaks Secondary School. A number of extensive walkway/trail systems connect parks within the community and also parks outside of this community.
The Community Shopping function for College Park is provided by a sub-regional shopping centre, called Oakville Place. Although not located within the boundaries of College Park, Oakville Place does nonetheless provide services to this community along with the remaining communities throughout Oakville.
Recently renovated, this large two level shopping centre houses over 110 retail stores. It is located in the northwest quadrant of the intersection formed by Trafalgar Road and the Queen Elizabeth Way.
The community is also serviced by a number of commercial plazas and shopping centres which are located throughout the community.
